In our locality, there are many orphan families living in a miserable condition. Their family status and self-respect do not permit them to send their children to orphanage or seek help publicly. Few teenage friends in Calicut City decided to extend a helping hand to these families and for this purpose on 15th August 1983 formed an organisation called "YATHEEM FUND" and introduced a unique system which we think is first of this kind ever introduced. By this system, orphans are taken care of by their mother in their own house. In the beginning the organization started the work by taking care of only 7 families. At present we take care of 430 orphans belonging to 213 families and spending Rs.2.5 Million every year for food, cloths, education, medicine and shelter for these families. There are many orphan families who do not have their own house and stay in rented house in a very bad condition. We have acquired 1.5 acres of land at Arakinar premise to construct house for such families.
Yatheem Fund is a non political organisation and an exclusive organisation to take care of orphans and widows who are restrained in their houses because of their modesty and self respect.
Yatheem Fund already registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 1976 (FCRA).
Yatheem Fund established in the year 1983 was registered under the Society Registration Act as per Reg No. 374/85
Yatheem Fund is a member of Kerala State Muslim Orphanage of Co-ordination Committee (KSMOCC)
International Islamic Relief organisation (Jedha) has recognised us and are getting aid for some orphan's children of Yatheem Fund.
Asian Muslim Committee (Kuwait) adopted 153 Yatheem Fund children and International Islamic Charitable Organisation (IICO) Kuwait adopted 14 orphan.
Our yearly expense is around Rs.2.5 Million per year. A well wisher has donated a two storied building which generates an income of Rs 4,00,000 per year.
As we get more applications, our aim is to start an Educational Institution and a Job oriented training centre for the orphans.
